FORMER Ijivitari MP David Arore has retained his seat in the by-election.

Northern police commander Lincoln Gerari said Arore finished at the top with more than 9700 votes followed by John Warisan 8389 votes.

Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato, when contacted last night, said he was yet to confirm details with officers on the ground.

Arore, the People’s National Congress candidate, was ousted as the MP following a ruling by the National Court in Popondetta on May 29 for bribery during the 2012 general elections.

Arore was first elected for the Ijivitari open electorate in the 2007 general elections.
