A suspect has been detained for allegedly burning down the new Middle Fly Administration Building at Balimo Station in  Western, Balimo Police Station commander Sergeant Mula Bidogo said yesterday.
“The suspect has been detained in the Balimo Police Station but he is not cooperating with the investigation,” Bidogo said.
“He was identified by 15 eyewitnesses who had seen him near the building when it caught fire early this month.
“There are rumours that it was election-related but has not been proven yet,” Bidogo said.
He said that the fire has reduced the building to ashes.
“Luckily, the fire did not completely burn down the old district administration building that was next to the new one.”
Meanwhile Bidogo said supporters of a losing candidate were released from police detention after Middle Fly MP Roy Biyama forgave them for cutting down his rubber and coconut trees  at his Uladu village.
