Authority allocates K200,000 for road upgrade

THE Wewak District Development Authority has allocated K200,000 to upgrade a road to benefit the people of Saure.
The money is to upgrade the first three kilometers of the village road which connects to the main road at Nuigo.
A company owned by local Linus Moku was engaged to carry out the work. Moku said the road had been neglected for years.
Saure village ward councillor Paul Maui said the road was originally built by Japanese soldiers during World War II.
The road has been used by people from the hinterlands such as the Yangoru Saussia district to reach Wewak.
Wewak MP Kevin Isifu said roads were a priority in the district to assist developments and economic activities.
“My priority in is to stimulate economic activities, and by investing in right infrastructural developments will enable market accessibility.”
