LOCAL guest house owners and tour operators will be able to sell their tourism products at an expo later this month, according to the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority.
Chief executive officer Jerry Agus said international travel agents would be in Port Moresby from Sept 21-27 to share experiences on the industry with domestic agents.
He said there would be two events, the National Tourism Conference and the PNG Tourism Industry Exposition ‘Lukim PNG’.
Both events will be held in Port Moresby.
Agus yesterday thanked Kumul Petroleum Holdings Ltd for its sponsorship of K100,000 for the events.
“K100,000 is a huge support for us and it will go a long way in hosting these events,” he said.
“Unlike any other industry that depends on a particular sector, tourism cuts across all sectors whether it be law and order, transport, infrastructure. All government agencies and private sector play a role in developing tourism.
“We can do our part to promote tourism but if the transport infrastructure and airline connectivity are not there, if customs and immigrations clearances are not done on time, then it adds to an impediment for us developing tourism. There’s a lot of issues to be discussed.
“The National Tourism Conference will see international and local speakers share their experiences, global trends in terms of tourism movements which country is sending out a lot of tourists and what tourists are looking for at this time and age.
