Authority welcomes Werror as chairman

THE Papua New Guinea Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative national secretariat has welcomed the appointment of Musje Werror, pictured, as chairman of the Mineral Resource Authority board.
He replaces Robin Moaina.
PNG Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative Head of Secretariat Lukas Alkan said: “Werror was a career mining company executive and  deputy chief executive at Ok Tedi Mine, one of Papua New Guinea’s biggest mines owned by the State.
“On behalf of the PNG Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative multi-stakeholder group, I congratulate Werror on this appointment to this important position.
“Having someone in the caliber of Werror is only fitting for Mineral Resource Authority, especially when the challenges and opportunity to better shape the mining industry are evolving unlike in the past.
“Mineral Resource Authority has distinguished itself well in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative activities and we are always encouraged by this.”
Alkan hoped to continue the good work with the new chairman and the hard working team led by managing director Philip Samar.
“We are also of the view that through the chairmanship of Werror, the working relationship between the Mineral Resource Authority and the national mining industry will be further enhanced for the good of the industry,” Alkan said.
“This will go a long way for the benefit of stakeholders and the economy of Papua New Guinea.”
