Awesa to seek funding for unfinished Lae roads

Works and Implementation Minister Francis Awesa will take up to Cabinet this week the funding of the uncompleted Milford Haven Road and the Unitech-Bumayong Road in Lae.
He said on Friday these were the remaining sections of Lae roads which needed attention.
Milford Haven is the main thoroughfare to the Lae port.
“Milford Haven is one of the most critical sections of Lae that we have not addressed,” Awesa said.
“I’m taking it to Cabinet on Thursday.”
He said he was looking at a budget of about K100 million to fix both roads, with Milford Haven to use most part of it.
“This is a priority of the Government. I’m well conversant with the issue and if I had the money, I would do it myself,” Awesa said.
He said Morobe would be the top priority for the Government despite the big cut in Works’ funding for next year.
“We have delivered on the Government’s agenda to change the face of our second city, which serves not only Morobe, but Madang and the Highlands region,” Awesa said.
“It will continue to serve the region and Papua New Guinea.”
