THE evengalism secretary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea Rev Elymas Bakung has told students of Balob Teachers College in Lae to demonstrate teaching standards expected from the church-run institution.
He said this during a dedication for staff and students at college’s chapel on Sunday.
Bakung told them to portray a standard that was expected of a teacher with responsibility to educate the future human resources of the country.
Bakung said the dedication tradition must be observed annually.
“Dedication means preparing our hearts and minds to focus on the purpose of enrolling, teaching and providing support services to this Lutheran institution.”
He told students that their purpose at the institution was to learn as much as they could, while their teachers must honestly prepare them for future teaching careers by imparting essential learning skills and knowledge.
“In the midst of all this, God must be present, students and teachers must ensure to make cost-analyses of your stay here to experience success,” Bakung said.
He also highlighted the importance of acknowledging God in their daily schedules. “Your life will experience misfortunes if there is no connection established between you and God,” he said.
“Thus, always seek God knowing well your purpose while studying and teaching.
“That will be seen through academic performances.”
Meanwhile, college principal Jerry Hendingao said God was the trademark for success in life and it was for God that Balob was experiencing a lot of developments.
He said the institution was church agency college and the dedication service gave lecturers and students an opportunity to remind themselves of their purpose as well as dedicating their plans at the start of the academic year.
Hendingao said it was through accepting God that success is achieved.
