Bank chips in to renovate classrooms in Port Moresby

TWO classrooms for pre-schoolers at the Taurama Barracks Primary School in Port Moresby have been renovated by the Bank South Pacific as part of its community projects initiative.
The classrooms were handed over by the staff of the Waigani Banking Centre last Wednesday.
The bank staff volunteered during weekends to clean up the buildings before the contractor began the renovation.
They also assisted in painting the two classrooms, ablution blocks, fence and the playground after the renovation was completed.
Taurama Barracks Primary School headmistress Margaret Ume thanked the bank for supporting education in the communities.
“We believe in guiding these young children with the values of respect and honesty,” Ume said.
“These are common values that we share with Bank South Pacific.”
The classrooms were handed back to the Taurama Barracks commanding officer Boniface Aruma by BSP Southern Region acting area manager Maureen Wanu.
“We trust that creating a new look for the buildings and the environment will boost staff morale and encourage the children to learn well,” Wanu said.
