Barramundis fall short by seven wickets in a shaky game with Aust

PAPUA New Guinea lost  to the Australian Indigenous team by seven wickets in their 50-over cricket match at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane last Sunday.
Playing their third match against the Indigenous XI in a week, the Hebou-sponsored PNG Barramundis batted first and for the second straight match, PNG were not able to bat out their full 50 overs, eventually being bowled out for 224 in only 46.4 overs.
The Barramundis started shakily, slumping to 44/4 when captain Assad Vala (5) was caught off the bowling of Samuel Doggett.
Then Sese Bau (84) and Dogodo Bau (51) added 141 runs for the fifth wicket to shift the momentum back in PNG’s favour, but a late order collapse only saw them post a disappointing 224 runs.
Doggett was the star with the ball for the Indigenous taking an impressive five for 33 while Dane Ugle (2-36) and Nicholas Boland (2-45) took a couple each.
This current tour is in preparation for ICC Intercontinental Cup (ICUP)/World Cricket League Championships (WCLC) round six fixture against Scotland which will take place in Port Moresby from Oct 1-8.
