THE Hebou Papua New Guinea Barramundis squad to tour the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this month was announced on Tuesday at Amini Park.
The 14-man squad will be led by Assad Vala, with the majority of the squad being based in Port Moresby.
Chad Soper (Sydney, Australia) is the only player that is based overseas, where he plays Sydney first grade cricket for Gordon CC.
Jack Vare-Kevere and Norman Vanua are the only two inclusions to the Barramundis squad that toured Sydney and Canberra last month, replacing Vagi Boko Kora and Pipi Raho.
CPNG’s chairman of selectors, Daniel Faunt, was excited at this upcoming tour.
“Given the importance of this tour to our World Cup qualification hopes we believe this is the strongest possible squad we could have assembled,” Faunt said.
“We have included Jack Vare as an additional batting option and while we have retained Assad Vala as captain, Jack’s leadership and big-game experience will be invaluable for the squad.
“Norman Vanua is fit and comes back into the team. We are confident that this squad will deliver results across all formats against UAE.”
