PAPUA New Guinea remain undefeated in the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) Premier League after a comfortable four-wicket victory over the Eastern Edge on Saturday in Darwin.
Chasing a modest target of 197 set by the Eastern Edge, the Hebou PNG Barramundis cruised to a comfortable victory on the back of a 86-run third-wicket partnership between Assad Vala (51) and Lega Siaka (50).
Vani Vagi Morea (38) was the other major contributor with the bat for the Barramundis, while Tyrell Sinclair (3-45) and David Grant (2-42) were the pick of the Eastern Edge bowlers. The Barramundis lost three late wickets, but still managed to win by four wickets with more than eleven overs to spare.
Earlier in the day, a disciplined bowling performance by the Barramundis bowled the Eastern Edge for 196 in less than 43 overs.
Elliot Opie (43) and Jonathan Dalton (41) were the best with the bat for the Edge, while Vala, Mahuru Dai and Willie Gavera picked up two wickets each for the Barramundis.
