Bishop meets PM

Lae News, Normal

THE newly-elected head bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran church of Papua New Guinea was on hand at the Nawae Lutheran Secondary School outside Lae to meet Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare when the “Chief’ arrived for the Pangu Pati convention last week.
Rev Giegere Wenge lives next to the high school so he took the opportunity to go and meet Sir Michael.
Both leaders shook hands and then hugged each other.
Bishop Wenge later blessed the Pangu Pati convention.
His two younger brothers – former Nawae MP Kennedy Wenge – and Morobe Governor Luther Wenge were also at the convention opening.
Governor Wenge thanked the Pangu Pati for bringing its 23rd convention to the Nawae area and to Morobe province, which is the birthplace of the party.
Mr Wenge paid tribute to the leadership of Sir Michael and for his role in national politics for more than 40 years.
