The new Indonesian Border Administration Complex along the PNG-Indonesian border is set to be completed next month,  Indonesian construction company Karya Nindya project manager Santoso Puri says.
Puri told The National this week that construction started in December last year and it was now in its finishing stages.
“The employees are now working 24 hours and almost 96 per cent has been completed,” he said.
“We are on target for the grand opening of the  complex together with the Papua New Guinea Border Complex.”
Puri said that the Indonesian  complex is located 800 metres from the new PapuaNew Guinea  complex and the old Indonesian border post.
“The complex will enable Indonesian officers to offer faster services to the community who cross the area,” he said.
According to the master plan, the construction of Indonesia’s boundary posts consists of two levels covering the main zone and supporting zone.
The core main zone include the checkpoint, a corridor for pedestrians, car-wash disinfection, weigh bridges, buildings and sub-station inspection of Immigration and Customs.
Puri also said there would be a township along the border for the border agency officers and their families.
“There will be a school and a clinic.
“The clinic will also have a ward for patients to be admitted for close monitoring for whatever sickness they are suffering from.”
Puri said that the clinic could also be used by Papua New Guinea border villagers.
