Boy,16, charged with attempted murder, robbery


A 16-year-old is one of the three people police in East New Britain have arrested for his alleged involvement in a K60,000 robbery at a Kokopo supermarket in January.
He has been charged with attempted murder and robbery.
Acting police commander Senior Inspector Joe Tabali said the youth from Matupit was captured after a dawn raid on Monday at Takubar.
The youth was allegedly responsible for stabbing the owner of the shop, a Chinese expatriate, on one of his hands.
He is charged with robbery and attempted murder. The shop owner was hospitalised and later discharged.
Two other suspects were identified as Raphael Segei, 27, from Vako village in Kandrian, Gloucester, West New Britain, who has been charged with possession of a homemade firearm, and Joachim Tomerua, 25, from Silur village in Namatanai, New Ireland, who has been charged with possession of a homemade gun.
Tabali said there were more suspects.
He said the incident occurred on Jan 29 at 4pm.
