BANK South Pacific (BSP) has a lot of commitment to develop small to medium enterprises in Papua New Guinea, chief executive officer Robin Fleming says.
He told a conference on Monday that the bank was engaged with all segments of economy and not just the corporate.
“We have 26,000 SME customers that have K28 million worth of loans and deposits worth more than K100 million,” Fleming said.
“We have SME centres down at Waterfront (Port Moresby) and also over in Lae.”
Fleming said BSP’s approach to lending at their SME segment was practical.
“Bank South Pacific has a lot of commitment to try to develop the SMEs.”
He said the bank had grown over the years providing smart business solutions and start-up kits to their customers.
They have 36.5 million ATM transactions in Papua New Guinea and 499 across the region.
Those ATMs also allow mobile top-up and cash deposits.
“The bank signs up new customers everyday using state of the art technology to grow its customer base,” he said.
BSP’s agents try to reach the unbanked in rural areas and provide access to basic banking services.
“BSP offcourse does not just deliver on financial performance,” Fleming said.
“We go to direct links to ensure that we are seen by the community to be a partner in many activities.”
The bank had invested over K6 million on community projects since 2009.
The Bank of South Pacific had also sponsored activities which included sports, social events and conference.
