THE vice-president of Bugandi Football Club Besi Simongi has refuted claims that Bugandi has left Lae Football Association (LFA) to join the newly-formed Morobe Football Association.
He said Bugandi FC remained loyal to LFA and has no affiliation to Football Federation PNG (FFPNG), however, they wanted to remain neutral at the moment until the issues between PNGFA and FFPNG were sorted out.
“Bugandi Secondary established the team to create a pathway for students,” he said.
He acknowledged that LFA had been part of Bugandi FC’s success and development therefore they wanted to remain with LFA.
“We are monitoring the situation between PNGFA and FFPNG at the moment and we have not made our decision yet.”
Simongi told The National that other senior clubs like Eriku Wavens, Bumayong United and Poro have left LFA but Bugandi chose to remain as it is part of an institution and did not want to be dragged into soccer politics.
“We did not attend the LFA meeting (two weeks ago) as we wanted to stay out of the ongoing fracas. We will let people know when we will come back,” he said.
