Central team outsmart Laumas

SPORTS Eventz league nines champions Central Provincial Government 1 beat Funeral Home Laumas 1 18-6 in their pool A match at the National Football Stadium last Saturday.
The main challenge played under lights was described as a battle of the competition favourites.
CPG, using their smart thinking and skills, thumped Laumas to remain unbeaten in the competition after round two.
Playing in front of more than 500 supporters, Central Provincial Government and Laumas were at each other with bone crunching tackles but the reigning premiers, maintaining cool heads, dominated the showdown.
Both sides featured senior inter-city players from the Port Moresby Rugby League and Digicel Cup but CPG with their smarter attacking from the edges to the corridor, set the pace after a 6-6 deadlock at the interval.
In the second half it was one-way traffic as CPG piled another 12 points and punished the opposition who made little progress in their attack.
CPG coach Ilo Ava and manager Nelson Geno Lama credited the players for their approach and discipline in the game by getting their attack and defence working.
