THE Limana Vocational Centre in Port Moresby celebrated the country’s independence anniversary with a cultural show yesterday.
Centre manager Sr Maria Goretti Leison told The National that they wanted the students to promote their culture at all times and wherever they were.
“In Papua New Guinea, we should be proud of our culture and promote it among our children and their children to come,”  Leison said.
She said it was a Catholic institution but they still promoted the diverse cultures every year because they had students from all over the country.
“All the students are here for one purpose and that is to gain skills,” Leison said.
“While teaching them skills we also promote culture so when they go back, whatever skills that they have learnt and whatever work they do, they must be proud of their culture.”
