Ceremonies for awards to be held


INVESTITURE ceremonies for the Queen’s Birthday Honours and 2016 Independence Anniversary honours and awards will be held this month at Government House, Port Moresby.
A statement from the Office of the Governor-General said the Orders of PNG (Logohu) Independence Anniversary honours and awards investiture ceremony would occur on Oct 13 at 2pm.
The Queen’s Birthday Honours investiture ceremony will be held on Oct 20 at 2pm.
A total of 95 persons from the public and private sectors as well as the disciplinary forces have been recognised for their services in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Among them are Reverend John Ribat to be awarded Knight Commander (Civil Division) for service to the community and the Catholic Church as Archbishop of Port Moresby and for promoting harmony among Christian churches in PNG.
John Kali was awarded Companion of the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George (CMG) for strong leadership of the public service as Secretary for the Department of Personnel.
