PAPUA New Guinea Rugby Football League chairman Sandis Tsaka congratulated SP Hunters coach Michael Marum and captain Ase Boas on their achievements at the annual Queensland Rugby League awards on Wednesday night.
Tsaka who could not attend the event in Brisbane due to work commitments in an email to Marum said: “I take this humble privilege on behalf of the PNGRFL board and management, our partners and supporters throughout PNG to congratulate you and skipper Ase Boas for the well-earned recognition at the QRL Awards in Brisbane tonight.”
Tsaka said this was Marum’s second Coach of the year award, the first coming in 2015, which showed the respect and high esteem his peers and officials had for him.
“You have done well and have earned this award through sheer hard work and the many sacrifices you have made for the team and for the innovations you have brought to the teams culture that reflected both on and off the field,” Tsaka said.
He said captain Ase Boas had been an inspiration and great leader of the team this year.
“Ase’s football has been exceptional which made him the second highest point scorer in the competition,” he said.
“His great leadership both on and off the field and the two awards he earned are a reflection of his performance this year,” he added.
Boas won the club’s player of the year award in 2016 and has continued his form becoming easily one of the Hunters most important players on and off the field.
