AROUND 100 companies from Papua New Guinea are expected to attend next week’s 2016 International Business Summit in Brisbane, Australia to be opened by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce Industry chief executive officer David Conn (pictured) said the first day would focus primarily on economic outlook and investment opportunities in Papua New Guinea.
The second day will be supported by Kumul Consolidated Holdings and focuses on infrastructure issues and opportunities in PNG.
The two-day summit, on September 1 and 2, is co-hosted by POMCCI and Alpha Consulting Solutions PNG Ltd at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited is sponsoring a welcoming party to be hosted by the PNG High Commission in Brisbane on August 31.
Conn said the National Capital District’s Chamber of Commerce Industry embarked on these business summits six years ago “because we just felt that it was important for us to promote Port Moresby and PNG as a whole and the opportunities there”.
The 36 speakers confirmed to speak at the event will talk on business opportunities, their expertise and investments they want to be involved in.
Aroha Campbell, chief executive officer of the Tauhara North No 2 Trust in New Zealand will speak about “participation not compensation” – one of the important landowner issues.
