Change of luck sought

CANADA and Nigeria will be desperate to get into the winners’ circle tonight when they meet at Bava Park in their Under-20 women’s soccer group B fixture.
Both teams suffered heavy losses in their opening matches and are keen to stay in contention for a top two spot — Canada were beaten 5-0 by Spain and Nigeria went down to Japan 6-0 on Sunday.
Canada coach Danny Worthington said it was tough match against Spain.
“Our key focus was Spain but since we had a hard time in the challenge, we accept the defeat and congratulate the Spanish for their victory,” Worthington said.
“However, that doesn’t mean all hope is lost as we have two more games to go in our pool before we qualify and one of those games is against the Nigerians (today).
“The other game will be against Japan on Sunday.
“I must admit that the new playing environment and climate has affected my players and it was very challenging but it will not stop us in our next two games.”
Canada’s playmaker Deanne Rose said on Sunday after their game  that the climate in PNG had an impact on their game against Spain.
“The weather here is not like it is in Canada,” Rose said.
“We’ve had a hard time here in terms of the temperatures but we are doing our best at training and on match day,” Rose said.
