Check point danger

Letters

Why do police set up traffic check-points at dangerous areas? I’m sure they can find safer spots than where vehicles are likely to speed up. I found roadblocks at downhill going from Waigani to downtown  and had to jam on the brakes hard to stop my car. Then, in one instance recently, there was a checkpoint at peak hours near the Waigani tunnel where traffic comes from three or four directions. What a chaos and unnecessary jam and  delay.
