Children happy to meet pageant contestants

TWENTY-five children at the University of Papua New Guinea’s Buk Bilong Pikinini were delighted to meet the contestants of this year’s Miss Pacific Islands Pageant Papua New Guinea, and the current Miss Pacific Islands Abigail Havora.
The children sang and danced as well as read from their favourite story books and showed off their library.
The children were delighted to receive gift packs from the contestants.
The Buk Bilong Pikinini at the University of Papua New Guinea is one of 17 libraries around the country whose aim is to increase literacy levels in Papua New Guinea as well as develop a love of books, particularly among children.
The Ambassador for Buk Bilong Pikinini is Lynda Babao-O’Neill.
She is also the patron of Miss Pacific Islands Pageant Papua New Guinea.
The contestants in this year’s pageant are: Melody Leke  –  Miss Pacific Balanced Fund; KellyanneLimbiye – Miss Pacific Assurance Group; Dorothy Elliot – Miss Italpreziosi; Lois Ilave – Miss Queen Emma Chocolates; Samantha Kuase – Miss IBS and Rose Pito – Miss ITI
