China gives vehicles to police

POLICE in Lae have three new vehicles donated by the Chinese Government.
The three vehicles were given to the police headquarters in Port Moresby before being shipped to Lae.
China had donated about 300 vehicles to be used during the recent general election.
Metropolitan Superintendent Anthony Wagambie said the vehicles would be used by the Criminal Investigation Division Sexual Offences Squad, Juvenile Justice Unit and the Traffic Section for road safety awarenesses.
“The Sexual Offences Squad and Juvenile Justice Unit need vehicles to effectively carry out their duties,” Wagambie said.
“The Traffic Unit has one vehicle and this extra one will strengthen their work.
“I intend to embark on more road safety work with the Traffic Unit, Public Relations Unit in collaboration with the Road Safety Council and Land Transport Board.”
