MEMBERS of the Chinese Methodist Church have donated more than K25,000 worth of food, clothes and gardening tools to the City Mission outside Port Moresby.
Mission chief executive officer Reverend Ronald Brown said it was the fifth time the church members had helped the mission.
“We are very grateful that they have shown the love of God in a very tangible way,” Brown said.
He thanked the church members for supporting the mission which looks after young people particularly boys at the City Mission camp.
Matthew Gawing, on behalf of the church, said they would continue to support City Mission.
He encouraged the boys to be good citizens when they leave the mission.
“We hope you will make good use of all the clothes and food stuff that we have brought and try to be good and help develop and keep the peace in your community and the country,” Gawing said.
The City Mission camp along the Magi Highway accommodates more than 150 boys who have no support to go to school or survive in the city.
The mission trains them in trades and skills so that they can look after themselves when they leave the camp.
