City appeals for assistance

TWO separate appeals for assistance have been launched to help the families who lost their homes and belongings at Hanuabada in the National Capital District on Saturday.
Oil Search yesterday gave K10,000 to launch an appeal which was announced during halftime in the match between the PNG Hunters and the Wynnum Manly Seagulls at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
Oil Search general manager stakeholder engagement Leon Buskens urged city residents to assist the fire victims.
National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop on Saturday launched an appeal.
He wrote on his Facebook page: “Our hearts go out to the families who have lost everything. Thank God there were no fatalities.
“On behalf of residents of our city, I am launching this appeal and calling for donations of food, clothes, beddings, cooking utensils and cash to help these families recover.
“Donations can be brought to the City Hall. All donations will be acknowledged and noted.”
