City Pharmacy donates wheelchairs

THE City Pharmacy Ltd Foundation has donated five wheel-chairs to disabled persons living at the Kaugere Rabia camp in Port Moresby.
Foundation project officer Oti Sarufa told The National that it was part of the assistance offered to 2015 CPL Pride of Young Women awardee Delisha Kiome in her work in the community.
“As part of our corporate and community services, we always assist our awardees to enhance their work in the community,” Sarufa said.
She said CPL was always there to give back to the community and was proud to assist their past and current winners.
“We recognised the work that Delisha has done and have come on board to assist her,” Sarufa said.
She said so far they had 60 recipients but four had passed away.
“As we are empowering women programmes, and with the winners going back to the communities, we would like to enhance women and girls as well,” Sarufa said.
She said CPL was not interested in highly qualified women or business women but those who worked hard to serve the community but had not been recognised.
Kiome, the community youth leader, was grateful to CPL for assisting her in her work in the community and thanked CPL on behalf of the community.
“Lifestyle disease is most common that affects our body, usually heart, sight and the ability to move around,” he said.
“I am very thankful to CPL for assisting us with the wheelchairs.”
Kiome usually organised programmes and brought youths together in sports and other activities.
