SEVEN police officers and their commanding officer appeared in the Kimbe District Court yesterday charged with traffic offences including drink driving and misusing state property.
West New Britain police commander Jim Namora said they were members of a taskforce based in Kimbe.
He said they were arrested, charged and they appeared in court yesterday.
“The commanding officer and his seven officers appeared which attracted curious onlookers,” Namora said.
Namora did not want to elaborate further on what had occurred.
He said police resources such as vehicles were hard to access and police had a duty to protect and properly manage the assets.
The officers have been allowed bail and will appear again on Friday for mention.
