Confidence shown in Morobe’s spirit of unity

THE Morobe Tutumang (assembly) will rekindle the spirit of unity with all 10 MPs to bring the province forward, Governor Ginson Saonu says.
There will be no opposition in the provincial assembly, he says.
Saonu said that the priority of the Tutumang would be to encourage unity among the 10 national MPs to promote the interest of Morobe people, the business community in Lae and the tax payers.
He said the willingness to pool resources together and work in unity for the common good of the province and the business community has been lacking in the last 20 years.
“Actually to move Morobe forward requires strength of mind from all 10 MPs to speak the same language and mobilise resources beginning from inside the Tutumang Haus and the provincial
administration down to the districts and into the 33 LLGs,” Saonu said.
“However, the progress of developmental activities to improve human wellbeing in rural areas and the support to impact projects from the provincial level down to the districts had the least or no impact for some years,” Saonu said.
Saonu said the 10 MPs have met in Parliament House and discussed matters of interest concerning Morobe after the formalities last Wednesday.
He said although only Kabwum MP Patrick Bassa was in the government that was a different matter from another level of politics.
Saonu told The National that there would be no opposition and government in the provincial assembly and cabinet, instead they would remain united to serve and move Morobe forward.
“We shouldn’t be struggling and wasting our provincial and district services funds.  Instead, we will
put money together to realise the aspirations and visions of our people.”
