Confusion over pastor discussing politics

Letters

PASTOR Tony Dalaka of the AOG Cornerstone church is well known in religious circles around the country.
Last Sunday morning at around 10am, I switched on one of the local TV networks and he appears to be preaching or teaching a sermon.
However just minutes into listening to him speak, it became quite obvious that he was actually talking politics.
The theme of his sermon was servant leadership but it actually sounded like a speech at a political fundraising or a tutor lecturing in a political science class or a corporate big shot speaking at a business dinner.
Pastor Dalaka was all over the place in his …let’s call it speech.
He even made references to Donald Trump in what sounded like support for the new President.
All I heard was economically this, politically that and business this and that.
There were readings from the bible but those reading were read in a way which complimented what he was saying politically.
The next 30 minutes was more of the same and I hope all who attend this church realise what is being preached at the pulpit each Sunday.
This I noticed from only 30 minutes of watching the church programme but who knows what other kinds of message he has been dishing out all this time. The church needs a shake-up spiritually.
Politics and business and money themes seem to be placed higher than honouring Christ.
Over and over I write to this column about the same issue and that is the pulpit politician, where the pastor thinks he is a qualified politician and economist among other occupations. Please pastors, be very careful in your sermons. Be aware of the message that is being preached.
Sometimes whole sermons are dedicated to politics and with the elections around the corner, maybe a lot more pastors are talking politics at the pulpit too.
Pastor Dalaka ended that sermon with “God have mercy on us”. It should sound offensive to the Christian listener. He said it off-handedly, almost sarcastically the way someone would say “Jesus Christ!” when annoyed etc.. Part 2 of Servant Leaders will be played again on Sunday.
I will be watching and you should tune in too to get yourself a fair idea of what I am talking about.
