Counterfeit case adjourned

TWO foreigners have appeared in the Lae committal court for selling counterfeit cigarettes in the country.
Simon Lin, 34, is from Fujian in China, and Levi Ramos, 37, is from Laguna village in Santa Cruz, Philippines.
They were caught by police on Oct 9 allegedly selling counterfeit cigarette from a company on Cassowary Road in Lae.
Magistrate Jeremiah Singomat told the two that selling counterfeit cigarettes was illegal in PNG.
The case has been adjourned to Nov 30.
Bail was extended to allow police enough time to collect evidence.
The two have surrendered their work permits and passports to the police prosecutor.
