Counting process in Jiwaka expected to wind down

THE counting process in Jiwaka is expected to wind down this week with eliminations.
Counting officials said Jimi open was expected to be the first to declare its new MP.
Anglimp-South Waghi had its counting suspended after the fourth elimination over the long weekend while North Waghi continued elimination.
For the regional seat, counting officials took all of Sunday to complete the primary counts and quality checks were done for the 184 ballot boxes on Monday. Jiwaka was one of the provinces that had not completed counting beforeĀ  the deadline for the issue of writs. Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato has been granted approval for an extension.
These provinces have until Friday to complete the counting and return the election writs.
