A MAN charged with the murder of former Miss PNG Rubyanne Laufa six months ago has had his K2000 bail extended by the Waigani Committal Court.
It is alleged that Richard Jason Magiau Namaliu, 25, from Raluana in East New Britain, caused Laufa’s death on Feb 11 this year.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar said the allegation was that Namaliu had pushed Laufa out of a moving vehicle.
He adjourned the case to Sept 6.
The court was told that Namaliu had picked up Laufa from her parent’s residence.
Police alleged that he was under the influence of alcohol.
It is alleged that Laufa was assaulted by Namaliu along the way.
She was found lying on the side of the road at Fort Banner by a
security guard at the University of Papua New Guinea.
The court was told that Laufa was seen being assaulted along the road just past her father’s home.
Police prosecutor Joseph Sangam asked the court to adjourn the matter as it was a fresh case which needed time to investigate.
