Court slams police failure

POLICE have again been blamed for failing to produce ample evidence in court to prosecute an accused person.
Magistrate Mekeo Gauli told Graham Kama, 34, from Wanda village in Kundiawa, Chimbu, that police failed to prepare file on the case therefore the court would dismiss the case.
Kama was charged with allegedly assaulting his wife at 9-Mile in Port Moresby on July 16.
Gauli said three months was sufficient time for the police to complete the investigations and submit the evidence to the court.
Kama’s case was first mentioned on August 5.
The police prosecution asked the court to strike it out because arresting officer Newman Wuri of Gordon police station had not submitted any file on the evidence.
