Czech Republic ambassador visits PNG to establish commercial ties

THE ambassador of Czech Republic to Papua New Guinea visited the country last week to discuss investments in communications and assistance in limiting climate change.
Ambassador Rudolf Hykl met with Department of Communication and Information secretaryPaulias Korni last Thursday and discussed issues on communication and also expressed his country’s interest in connecting with PNG in areas of communications especially in radar technology for passive surveillance.
Hykl said Czech Republic has a top performing company called ERA that specialised in surveillance and flight tracking solutions that could be of interest to PNG.
He said ERA has over 100 installations for air traffic management and military customers in 57 countries in Europe, the United States of America, Middle East, Africa, South America and Asia-Pacific.
Secretary Paulias Korni told the ambassador that the Government is taking PNG to the next level with its political stability and sound policies, especially those on education, infrastructure development, health and law and order, for the benefit of foreign investors.
He said the Government has put in place policies that were conducive to do business in the country. He further expressed confidence in the Czech Republic’s assistance to PNG and other Pacific island countries in the reduction of the effects of climate change.
Hykl also visited classroom projects in Madang and hospital projects in Eastern Highlands which were funded by the Czech government.
