STRIKER William David found the net in the 69th minute to help Erima Fly-Overs FC beat Rapatona 1-0 in the FA Cup challenge on Saturday.
With a lot of players joining the Port Moresby Soccer Association’s (PMSA) campaign at Kaparoko village for the Southern Besta Cup qualifier, Rapatona had little room to match the Erima outfit.
Under the watchful eyes of Chique Posman, Rapatona’s Joseph Waiwai, Sepe Yatu, Tony Mochon, Steven Pelokai and Solomon Lavett had to give their best against their Fly-Overs opponents.
Both teams could not score in the opening half but the Fly-Overs, showing more determination to score, did in the game’s crucial stages.
David said after the match that he gave game-time to younger players but they failed, and he had to do it himself to score to lift the team’s morale. David was well-supported by Jessie Tumare, Edward Oa, Rudolf Rero and Mark Nerau.
In the other match played on Saturday, the star-studded Maclaren outfit defeated Badili’s CTI Kings 1-0. Kings had some good players in  Bonko Timah, Rodney Po, Johnn Ribinson, Marcus Mondo, Ambruk Manoa, Pius Nakatta, and Gregory Luke but could not find the net.
Maclaren had experience in NSL stars Paschal Wojam, Cyril Muta, Shannon Andrew, brothers Bofeng and Parkot Poesi, which made them look formidable.
Goalkeeper David Hauka was outstanding for Maclaren denying chances for CTI Kings to score.
Meanwhile, match coordinator Robert Sabadi reminded clubs that this is the last week for teams to register for the FA Cup challenge.
He said he would not hesitate to remove clubs who failed to field teams in the competition.
