THE Department of Trade, Commerce and Industry and contractor Tanorama Limited ended their three-year contract for PNG’s small to medium enterprise access to finance training project last Friday in Port Moresby.
Tanorama is a locally-owned company which provides consultants, facilitators, trainers, researchers and project managers.
The department was to provide technical assistance and support where necessary to financial institutions, provincial commerce divisions and the SMEs through the project conducted by Tanorama since 2013.
Chairman of the project steering committee John Andrias said it was an important impact project for the country placed under the department.
“This type of training was made possible through the partnership with World Bank and its partners, Internal Revenue Commission, Investment Promotion Authority, National Development Bank and Bank South Pacific,” Andrias said.
The project is jointly funded by the World Bank Group and the Government through the Internal Development Association under a loan of US$21.9 million (K67.9m)
Tanorama Limited director Nora Vagi Brash said PNG was full of hard-working people.
“They have been waiting for something to happen for years and thank you to the stakeholders, partners and government department for making this possible,” Brash said.
