HELA deputy governor Thomas Potape plans to hold a provincial executive committee meeting tomorrow to discuss the process of electing a governor to replace the late Anderson Agiru.
It followed a ruling by the Justice Collin Makail in the Waigani National Court declaring as illegal the elections of Hela MPs Phillip Undialu and Francis Potape.
He said the provincial assembly members would meet next Tuesday to elect a governor.
He told reporters in Port Moresby yesterday that he would be informing the provincial assembly clerk in Tari, Hela, to prepare notices for the assembly meeting next Tuesday.
Potape said the decision of the court yesterday was “very important”.
He urged Tari-Pori MP James Marape, Komo-Margarima MP Francis Potape and Koroba-Lake Kopiago MP Undialu, local level government presidents, the assembly clerk, provincial administrator and public servants to work with him in the election process because the people of Hela needed a leader.
MP Potape said the court ruling was very clear and he would support whoever was elected next Tuesday because the people of Hela were important than him.
