Development needs time: MP

GAZELLE MP Jelta Wong is urging people in his electorate and East New Britain to allow  Kokopo MP Emil Tamur, ENB Governor Nakikus Konga and him time to see what difference they will make once in office.
Wong called from Port Moresby to a panel on NBC Radio ENB yesterday in response to their criticism for joining the PNC-led coalition.
“I do not believe anybody has the right to criticise us when we have not even taken our office yet to start work,” he said.
“Give us two years or even in the next five years and see what the difference we can do for the people.
“We will deliver to our people and we must think critically and politically why we made this move and if you see, we stood together as a team and we went into all of those meetings at Alotau as a team.”
He said that was unusual for ENB.
“I am proud to be with my governor, fellow open members for Kokopo and Pomio because we did not think about ourselves but about our people and what we can deliver,” he said.
“Governor Konga has made a big sacrifice for the province after he was offered DPM and he turned it down because his first priority was East New Britain and I commend him.”
Wong said the team lobbied for portfolios that would directly affect the province.
