A NEW sub-health centre and road were recently opened at Konge Ring in the Saussia LLG of Yangoru-Saussia district in East Sepik.
MP Richard Maru committed an additional K100,000 for a staff house for the centre.
Yangoru-Saussia district health adviser Glenis Wapi embraced the services and thanked Maru.
Wapi said access to health services and roads in that part of the district were non-existent, with a lot of people dying while being transported by foot to the nearest aid post.
She said mothers encountered complications during delivery.
The district currently has 16 health workers to serve in the new aid posts in Yangoru-Saussia.
“Lack of staff housing is a problem that is driving health workers away from the district,” Wapi said.
He urged other local MPs who shared the boundary with the Yangoru-Sausia district to assist in funding road links that would enable people access services.
The 38km road from Tuonumbu to Kwariangua will be constructed at the cost of K3.8 million under the Government’s district funding.
This road will reach the last village that shares borders with Yangoru-Saussia and Angoram district.
