Do something minister

Letters

The Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology Francis Marus spoke about not enough secondary school teachers graduating in science and mathematics last week. He told students at St Peter Chanel Catholic College of Secondary Education in East New Britain that Grade 12 students majoring in maths had declined from 57 per cent in 2010 to 27 per cent in 2012. He also said that the University of Goroka graduated 200 secondary teachers annually but not enough in science and maths. As a parent, I wanted to hear then what the minister would do to fix the problem as he is in the best position to do something. But he did not say.
