DEFENDING National Soccer League champions Lae City Dwellers are tipped to overcome looming threats PS United in tomorrow’s clash at Laiwaden Oval in Madang.
After eight games each against other franchises, it will be the first time this season for them to go head-to-head in the semi-professional competition.
Lae City remain undefeated topping the ladder with 22 points from seven wins and a draw while PS United, who are considered a menace to Lae City’s run to retain title, are third on 16 points from five wins, one draw and two losses.
Both sides have two matches remaining and will face-off twice before the finals; the second game is a washed out game scheduled for the following weekend
In Morobe, there is a possibility that things can turn sour for the defending champions but coach Peter Gunemba is confident his side would end the season undefeated.
He will be banking on strikers Raymond Gunemba and Obert Bika up front and play makers Emmanuel Simon and Jacob Sabua in the midfield to steer the ship over theremaining games to secure the minor premiership.
“I think we are in a good state to get the minor premiership but one thing we will not be doing is to underestimate them,” Gunemba said.
“They have proven themselves as strong contenders but we are prepared to give our shot.”
