DWU plans to make its mark

DIVINE Word University President Professor Cecilia Nembou says the university plans to be an internationally competitive and recognised university through its innovative teaching, learning and research through the adaption of information and communication technologies.
Nembou said at the 35th graduation ceremony last Sunday that the university is now in its first year of implementing the third decade strategic plan that will combine the achievements of the past two decades in making the university internationally competitive.
Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology Francis Marus congratulated DWU for contributing to the development of the country by producing many graduates every year.
Marus said the government was very proud of DWU’s contributions throughout the years and urged it to continue and build on from its success, especially in its innovative teaching, learning and research through the use of ICT.
DWU council chairman Archbishop Douglas Young said the university was proud and ready to contribute to the development of PNG.
More than 900 students graduated and among the top performing graduates awarded in the different programmes was Beverlyn Bakau-Malken who topped the class in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme with the highest grade point average (GPA) of 3.04 and received the outstanding student award sponsored by Bank South Pacific.
Malken was among 20 MBA students who graduated.
The MBA programme is offered through the flexible mode at the Port Moresby campus located along Waigani Drive.
The Madang campus graduands add to over 500 students who graduated in the DWU amalgamated and affiliated campuses in other parts the country last November.
