THE assistant manager of Team East Sepik to the 7th PNG Games in Kimbe, Clarence Hukahu, says all athletes in the provincial team are confirmed to participate in the biannual games next March.
Hukahu said the rescheduling of the games has given more time for preparations, especially in terms of raising additional funds to assist the team for travel and accommodation.
“We have about 200 people confirmed to represent Team East Sepik,” Hukahu said.
He said selections were made last year in November and now they were in the process of ensuring all athletes and officials register before travelling.
Team East Sepik, like all other participating provinces, will have to register athletes and officials in the PNG Games accreditation software that has an offline system in each province, where the provincial team has the responsibility to fill in all required details before sending it to the main data system for processing.
Hukahu said the team was still arranging their travel plans and required additional funds, which were being organised by the team’s fundraising committee.   So far Team East Sepik has received K200,000 from the provincial administration.
Hukahu said they have yet to submit their bond fees for accommodation and would do so by this month
The PNG Games host organising committee confirmed with The National last week that only eight provinces had paid their bond fees.
The deadline is Dec 9.
