The ongoing fight has frighten many people from travelling to town while businesshouses remain closed as there are no customers. Students attending schools near the town have stayed home in fear of being hit by bullets.
Schools such as Nipa Secondary School, Plateau High School and primary schools as well as health services were also affected.
Southern Highlands police commander Chief Supt Sibron Papoto issued a warning earlier to supporters of candidates not to bring offensive weapons to town but this has fallen on deaf ears.
