Eleven sitting MPs lose re-election bid

ELEVEN Cabinet ministers, including Speaker Theodore Zurenuoc, have so far lost their seats in the 2017 general election.
They are Rigo MP Ano Pala (Justice Minister and Attorney-General), Tewai Siassi MP Mao Zeming (Fisheries), Markham MP Paul Ezekiel (Housing), Namatanai MP Byron Chan (Mining), Gazelle MP Malakai Tabar (Transport),  Talasea MP Francis Marus (Higher Education),  Wewak MP Jim Simatab (Correctional Service), East New Britain Governor Sir Leo Dion (Inter-Government Relations), Central Bougainville MP Jimmy Miringtoro (Information and Communications), Sohe MP Delilah Gore (Community Development) and Tambul/Nebilyer MP Benjamin Poponawa (Labour).
Two other ministers trailing in their constituencies are Madang open MP Nixon Duban (Petroleum and Energy) and Moresby North West MP Michael Malabag (Health).
Others leading in their seats are Kundiawa Gembolg MP Tobias Kulang, Gumine MP Nick Kuman and Wapenamanda MP Rimbink Pato.
