Escapee shot and recaptured in Kimbe

AN escapee in Kimbe, West New Britain (WNB), is in Kimbe General Hospital after being shot and captured by police.
WNB police commander Supt Jim Namora said yesterday that police had shot the escapee last Sunday.
It was alleged that on Sunday the suspect held up and robbed a family at Kimbe Section 21.
Namora said a witness in the area called police and they responded immediately to the report and shot the suspect because he was armed with a firearm. He said police were yet to release the name of the suspect.
Namora said the suspect was wanted by police for a string of serious crimes.
He said these crimes included alleged wilful murder of a security guard from Talasea, West New Britain, during an armed robbery in a supermarket in Kimbe.
“The suspect and his gang at Kimbe Section 21 were allegedly involved in criminal incidents in and around Kimbe town for some time.”
