Event raises awareness on child protection

A CHILD Protection Day held at St Mary’s Catholic School in Lae last Saturday was to provide advice to children and their parents on issues such as children’s rights, plus advice on nutrition, hygiene and health.
More than 300 children attended with parents.
The event was coordinated by Police Sergeant Ruth Murup and assisted by the Australian Federal Police.
The theme was: “Please protect me – I am the future of PNG.”
The event was supported by Femili PNG, Child Protection Office, Family Support Centre, Save The Children, Lioness Club of Lae, Lae Huon Gulf Rotary Club, Susu Mamas, Correctional Services, Australian Defence Force and International SOS.
Children from schools in Lae performed songs and dances to entertain the crowd.
Local singer Alang Isaac sang Whitney Houston’s song, Greatest Love of All.
