THE Port Moresby General Hospital’s Family Planning Clinic has a new private counselling room built by Bank South Pacific’s corporate banking team.
The clinic serves more than 50 people daily from Port Moresby, Central and Gulf.
It has registered more than 6000 clients, mostly women, since January.
Family Planning Clinic sister in charge Mary Maniwavie said there was a need for private consultations.
“From the consultations we have, family planning is not openly discussed by families,” she said.
“The clinic staff offer family planning advice and counselling services. We did all our consultation around a table. But we saw that there was a need to have a private consultation room.
“Thanks to BSP through its community project initiative, we now have this consultation room with added renovations carried out throughout the building.
The hospital co-ordinator of obstetrics and gynaecology said the support from BSP would have a positive impact on the community.
